2005 TUANZ Best Tertiary Student
Steven Upritchard won Best Teriary Student in New Zealand at the 2005 Telecommunications Users Association of New Zealand (TUANZ) Interactive Awards for his project TAXOBROWSER.
I supervised Steven throughout his honours year research project. As a mature student Steven had a real vision and purpose behind what he wanted to achieve at Massey and from the outset focused on blending his programming and visual communication design skills. The strength of this project comes from it being research driven and the consultation process with scientists in the field. I’m glad the judges recognised the depth of this project and the huge potential that Steven displays. He managed to squish an almost masters-level project into an undergraduate degree.
